In 2009, wood dust was added under California Proposition 65 as a substance known to the State of California to cause cancer. Proposition 65 requires people doing business in the State must not “knowingly and intentionally expose” individuals to wood dust or other toxic chemicals without first providing a clear and reasonable warning.
Wholesalers whose products are sold or used in California must comply with the requirements or risk fines and litigation.
